Key Details

Theme

This year’s theme is Christmas in the Scrub! It’s all about celebrating an Aussie Christmas that feels right at home under the gum trees, by the river, and under the stars. We want to see trees that tell the story of our beautiful bushland — the smell of eucalyptus, the sound of cicadas, and the joy of being outdoors with family and friends. Think warm, creative, and full of heart — not store-bought or flashy, just real and fun!Use things you can find around you — sticks, leaves, flowers, tin, or even old decorations you can reuse. Be creative, be clever, and show us what Christmas in Australia means to you.

Ideas to Get You Started
Bushland Beauty – Decorate your tree with gum leaves, flowers, paperbark, or seed pods. You could even make your own native wreaths or ornaments.
Rustic Charm
– Use old timber, rope, or bits of tin. Add some fairy lights to make
it glow at night.
Aussie Animals
– Add a few koalas, kookaburras, kangaroos, or cockatoos. They can be made from paper, clay, or recycled materials.
Summer Glow – No snow here! Use gold, yellow, and soft lights to show the magic of summer nights.
Sustainable Crafting
– Make your decorations from recycled or natural things. Paint old ornaments, reuse ribbons, or make your own out of cardboard and leaves.
