Ready Clarence Valley: Get Ready, Get Involved and See Emergency Response in Action

What really happens when an emergency hits the Clarence Valley?

Who turns up? What do they do? And what can you do now to make sure your household, family or business is better prepared when things go sideways?

On Saturday 19 September 2026, the Ready Clarence Valley Emergency Services Expo & Demo Day will bring the people, organisations and services that respond, recover and help our communities get back on their feet together at Maclean Showground for a free, hands-on community day.

From floods and fires to storms and other emergencies, preparedness starts long before an incident occurs. Ready Clarence Valley is designed to give locals a practical look at what happens during an emergency, who is involved and, importantly, what each of us can do to be better prepared.

See emergency services in action

This is your opportunity to meet the crews behind the uniforms, see emergency services and response organisations in action, and discover how different agencies and community groups work together when the Clarence Valley needs them most.

Throughout the day, visitors can take part in demonstrations, workshops and presentations, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn from the people who have first-hand experience responding to emergencies.

There will also be practical information and tips you can take home and put into action, whether that's improving your household emergency plan, preparing your property or making sure your business is ready to respond when things don't go according to plan.

More than emergency preparedness

Ready Clarence Valley isn't just about what happens during an emergency. It's also about the incredible network of people and organisations that support our community before, during and after an event.

The Expo will bring together emergency services, community organisations, government agencies and local businesses, giving visitors the chance to discover the important roles they play across the Clarence Valley.

And if you've ever thought about volunteering, this could be the perfect opportunity to find out where you could make a difference.

Meet local organisations looking for new members, ask questions and discover how you can become a volunteer.

You might even leave Ready Clarence Valley as the Clarence Valley's newest emergency or community service volunteer.

Bring the family and get involved

Forget the lecture-style approach to disaster preparedness.

Ready Clarence Valley is about getting involved, seeing how things work, meeting the people who respond when we need them and walking away with knowledge you can actually use.

With plenty to see and do throughout the day, there will be activities for the whole family, along with food trucks to keep everyone fuelled while you explore the Expo.
